In Case of Emergency...

Emergency illnesses or injuries often require intensive care, rapid diagnostic capabilities, constant monitoring, and often require surgery. For this reason The Housepet Housevet does not typically see emergency cases. If The Housepet Housevet is your regular veterinarian, we welcome phone calls letting us know the situation, but your main priority is to get your pet the help they need.

Write down this information and have it by the phone or on your refrigerator! Always keep copies of your pet’s recent medical records together and easily accessible if possible, so you can take them with you if you have an emergency.

For emergencies, please contact or go to the nearest emergency facility. In the Baton Rouge area, we recommend the LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Clinic Emergency Service on Skip Bertman Drive between Nicholson Drive and River Road. The telephone number for the clinic is 225-578-9600 and they provide emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Scroll to the bottom of this page for driving directions.

If you arrive after hours, there is an intercom button outside the front door that you will get you in touch with the emergency staff, who will come and open the door for you.
